Thinking Tuesday: Seasons

The season is changing. The air is cooler in the morning. The leaves are starting to change colors. The sun is rising a bit a later. The season is changing.

When the season changes in your life, what are the signs?

Most times, I feel the shift. My energy changes. Sometimes, I feel more energize. Other times, I feel my energy pulling in a certain direction. My focus shifts. My motivation gathers its belongings and dashes to a new path. The season – my season – is changing and I’m anticipating it.



Motivational Monday: Meditation Follow-up

Last week, I was unsuccessful at taking quiet moments to meditate. Even when I felt I needed it, I somehow seemed to busy to take 5 or 10 minutes to myself. This week I’m determined to make it happen.

When someone asks you how you’re doing, what do you say? Do you give the traditional “I’m fine”? If so, why is that?

A friend once posted to social media that no one really wants to know how you’re doing when they ask. So, just say, “I’m good” and keep it moving.

img_7513I agree. But I’m done interacting in that way. Here’s why. I’ve spent a large part of my life pretending that everything was okay when it wasn’t. I’ve also learned the hard way that repressing emotions and going about life in a “business as usual” fashion is no healthier than eating junk food everyday. Ill feelings stay with you until you release them.

Now, if you ask me how I’m doing or how something is going, you will get the truth.

If I really am good, then I’ll let you know. But if I’m not? I still let…

Thankful Tuesday: Overflowing with Thankfulness

Have you ever woke up and just been thankful? Today I am thankful for so many things. See below some of the things I am thankful for today:

Thankful to be breathing. Thankful to be in my right mind. Thankful for family. Thankful for supportive friends. Thankful for finances to pay bills, finances to enjoy life, and finances to contribute to various causes. Most of all I am thankful for the peace I am consistently creating in my world.

On another note, this school year, I am most thankful to see my students’ gains from the previous school year. (I’m a researcher and interventionist) To witness how much new information they retained from last year is mind-blowing. This is one way I invest in my future and I am thankful for the opportunity to invest this way.

Motivational Monday: Recharge

It’s Monday. If you weren’t able to recharge over the weekend, take 5 minutes right now (well after reading this blog) – 10 minutes if you can spare it – to recharge yourself!

Sit in silence.

Think about what you’re feeling in this moment and then let those thoughts float wherever they may.

Pay attention to your breathing. Give your body permission to inhale and exhale allowing any tense feelings to escape.

Allow yourself to just be in the moment – whatever that looks like for you.

Today focus on renewing your mind and allow the renewing of your mind to be an intentional daily activity this week.
